Shinji Koga

profile

Born in Saga City. Graduated from the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts. Enrolled in New Japan Philharmonic as Deputy chief to Chief player (1987-1999). Transferred to the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra (2000-2012).
In 1985, he won the 1st prize in the trombone section of the 2nd Japan Wind and Percussion Competition. 1987 Prague Spring International Music Competition Trombone Section Finalist and Diploma Award Winner.
Held recitals in 1995 at the Sogakudo Hall and in 1996 at the Saga City Cultural Center. In 2001, he appeared on NHK-FM "Meikyoku Recital". 2019 from D series recital appearance. Participated in the CD of Tokyo Metropolitan Trombone Quartet, 4 Bone Lines.
Studied trombone under Ryuzo Miyoshi, the late Yukio Nagahama, Satoshi Kamiya, and the late Alois Bamboura.
Currently, he is a professor at the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, a lecturer at the Department of Music, Nihon University College of Art, a lecturer at the Dolce Music Academy, a trainer at Tokai University's Takanawadai High School brass band club, a permanent director of the Japan Trombone Association, and a member of the Japan Wind Music Society.
