Born in Kashiwa City, Chiba Prefecture. Started contrabass at the age of 14. Received instruction from Mitsushi Murakami and Akie Yamaya. After graduating from Tokyo University of the Arts, he completed the graduate school with the Acanthus Music Award.
During his third year at university, he passed an audition for the New Japan Philharmonic and joined the orchestra. While in graduate school, went to Germany as a trainee of the Agency for Cultural Affairs' overseas training program for emerging artists, and studied at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts.
He has studied under Hiroshi Ikematsu, Christoph Schmidt, Yoshio Nagashima, Shinji Nishiyama, Mitsushi Murakami, Akie Yamaya, and Shu Yoshida. Chief contrabass player of the New Japan Philharmonic.
