Graduated from the high school attached to Tokyo University of the Arts. Studied under Mr. Jinsaku Yanaka. While still a student, he won the 39th Music Competition of Japan in the brass section (first place in the horn section). After graduating, he joined the Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra and became the Chief player from the following year.
In 1980, he went to London as an overseas researcher of the Agency for Cultural Affairs and studied under J. Baker of the Royal Opera. After returning to Japan, he expanded his range of activities to include solo and chamber music. Japanese premiere of the horn solo from Messiaen's "From the Valley to the Stars...".
Also invited as a soloist to the International Horn Festival. Since 1998, he has performed at the Kirishima Music Festival every year.
Currently serves as a judge for horn and wind ensemble competitions. The summer horn camp that he presides over is a gateway to success for players aiming to become professionals.
