Born in Joetsu City, Niigata Prefecture. Joined the New Japan Philharmonic in 1984 after studying at the Faculty of Science and Engineering at Chuo University and the Special Course at Tokyo University of the Arts. He studied viola under Toshiyuki Totsuka, Keiko Shirao, and Stahl, and chamber music under Kazuki Sawa and the Amadeus Quartet. New Japan Philharmonic viola player.
