On December 16th, 17th, 18th, 19th, 20th, and 21st, 2026, we will be holding our annual year-end special performance of Beethoven's Ninth Symphony at four venues.

Conducted by Yutaka Sado, the fifth Music Director of New Japan Philharmonic. Soprano Yurie Takano, mezzo-soprano Kasumi Shimizu (12/16, 12/17, 12/19), Megumi Shiozaki (12/20, 12/21), tenor Naoki Miyazato, and bass-baritone Kazu Hirano will be invited as soloists. With a star-studded soloist lineup that Sado has performed with in operas and concerts, earning deep trust, and the Kuryu-kai Choir, we will deliver Beethoven's masterpiece 'Ninth Beethoven.' At Yokohama Minato Mirai Hall (12/16) and Sumida Triphony Hall (12/18), children under 18 can also be invited for free. Last year, over 8,500 spectators listened to New Japan Philharmonic × Yutaka Sado 's 'Ninth Symphony.' Please look forward to another outstanding performance worthy of closing the year this year.

New Year's Concert 2027
New Japan Philharmonic will once again hold its "New Year's Concert" in 2027 to celebrate the start of the new year. Conductor Yukio Fujioka, who was well-received at the previous performance, and narrator Naoko Tazo will be the familiar face, and the program will be befitting of the New Year.
The up-and-coming soprano Ayano Nonomura, who is active in a wide range of genres, will perform a selection of exquisite arias. In addition, the sumo wrestlers of the Naruto stable, led by Naruto Katsunori (former Ozeki Kotooshu), who has his stable in Mukojima, Sumida Ward, will be welcomed as guests, creating a stage full of Sumida's unique charm. Furthermore, in the popular annual segment where orchestra members serve as soloists, we will present Vivaldi's "Concerto for Two Violins" performed by Sae Niwa (joining in 2025) and Sakiko Yabe (joining in 2024). From famous Viennese pieces to opera arias, this first concert of the new year will be filled with diverse music and talk. Join New Japan Philharmonic in a bright and cheerful start to 2027.

The Agency for Cultural Affairs' program to support children's experiences of viewing performing arts at theaters, concert halls, etc. aims to nurture children's rich humanity by supporting efforts that provide opportunities for children to view and experience authentic live arts performances at theaters, concert halls, etc., and to contribute to the development of future cultural arts leaders and audiences.
