| Overview | The NJP Academy is a program designed to cultivate outstanding orchestral musicians of the future. Established in the fall of 2025, we are now recruiting for our second cohort. Academy students will receive lessons from members of New Japan Philharmonic, and upon completion, will be able to perform in New Japan Philharmonic orchestral and chamber music concerts. Through practical activities within the orchestra, students will learn the techniques and know-how required of an orchestral musician, as well as the proper attitude expected of a member of society. |
| recruitment part | A total of 3 people will be selected from the following instruments: violin, viola, double bass, oboe, tenor bass trombone, and percussion (excluding timpani). |
| Qualification requirements | Applicants must possess the character and musical abilities befitting an academy student. Applicants must be between 18 and 30 years old, reside in Japan, and not be currently enrolled in a professional orchestra. Nationality is not a factor. ・Those who can commute to Sumida Triphony Hall. |

| Review process | ① [Document screening and video screening] <Document screening> We will review your application based on the information you provide. <Video Screening> We will be conducting video reviews via YouTube. *The videos will not be made public to anyone other than the judges and the organizing committee. [Video Submission Procedure] ① Film a video of your chosen piece. *Arrange your own accompanist. The camera must be fixed in place and filmed in a single, uncut sequence. | to academy students Regarding | 1) The contract period will be based on a one-year term, with a maximum of three years. The organization will decide whether or not to renew the contract. 2) If it is determined that a student has problems with their suitability or qualifications as an academy student, they may be expelled even during their enrollment period. 3) Academy students may withdraw from the academy at any time during their enrollment period if they wish to do so for their own reasons. 4) During your membership, you can receive free lessons from our orchestra members. (Approximately once a month) 5) Based on recommendations from each section, you may have the opportunity to appear as an extra in orchestral and chamber music performances by New Japan Philharmonic. In that case, you will be paid the prescribed appearance fee. 6) During your time with the orchestra, you will be able to observe rehearsals and performances of New Japan Philharmonic. However, observation may not be possible depending on the wishes of the conductor or other staff. 7) Even while enrolled, you are free to audition for New Japan Philharmonic and other orchestras. 8) We will provide practice spaces for percussionists to the extent possible. |
