Christian Svarfvar, violin

profile

Born into a musical family, he studied violin under his father, Sven-Ole Svalfvar, who served as concertmaster for the Norwegian National Opera and the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He made his solo debut at the age of 12, performing Mendelssohn's Violin Concerto with the Swedish Chamber Orchestra. He subsequently studied at the Stockholm Academy of Music and the Juilliard School in New York.

Following his Stockholm debut (Hannu Lintu), he was named a "Rising Star" by the European Concert Hall Confederation (ECHO), and has since performed in major halls such as the Concertgebouw Amsterdam, the Vienna Musikverein, the Beaux-Arts Belgium, and the Cité de la Musique in Paris. He further solidified his reputation with his debut recital at New York's Carnegie Hall as part of their "Distinctive Debuts" series. One of his career highlights was the world premiere of three-time Academy Award-winning composer Howard Shore's Violin Concerto "Eastern Promises" with the Royal Stockholm Philharmonic Orchestra, conducted by the composer himself. His three albums with the London Philharmonic Orchestra have also been critically acclaimed. The band has received high praise, with comments such as "It's captivating" (Gramophone magazine), "Their tone is 'radiant,' and their playing is filled with 'fearless expression' and 'unwavering virtuosity'" (Financial Times). https://www.christiansvarfvar.com/ (660 characters)
