He started playing the violin at the age of four. In 2007, he won the 13th International Tchaikovsky Competition, attracting worldwide attention. The New York Times also praised him as "a captivating young performer" and "a brilliant talent." He has performed with major orchestras in Japan, as well as the Tonhalle Orchestra Zurich, BBC Symphony Orchestra, Munich Philharmonic Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, and Warsaw National Philharmonic Orchestra, and has appeared at famous festivals such as St. Moritz, Colmar, and Verbier. He has performed with conductors such as Charles Dutoit, Mstislav Rostropovich, Eliahu Inbal, Vladimir Spivakov, Vladimir Ashkenazy, Jiří Bělohlávek, and Ivan Fischer. He has given recitals in New York, Washington, St. Petersburg, Frankfurt, Milan, and elsewhere.

In October 2020, she released a new score for "JS Bach: Partita for Solo Violin." In "Mayuko Sensei's Violin Lessons!" on BS TV Tokyo's "Enter the Music," she is recognized as a leading violinist and educator. She has studied under Satoya Chikako, Oguri Machie, Kudo Chihiro, Harada Koichiro, Dorothy DeLay, Kawasaki Masao, and Zakhar Bron. She has received numerous awards, including the Osaka Prefectural Governor's Award, the Kyoto Prefectural Governor's Award, the 13th Idemitsu Music Award, the Agency for Cultural Affairs Commissioner's Award, and the Hotel Okura Music Award. She plays the Stradivarius "Rubinoff" made in 1731, loaned from the Munetsugu Collection. She is a professor at the Tokyo College of Music.
