Yutaka Sado, conductor

profile

Graduated from Kyoto City University of Arts. Studied under the late Bernstein and Seiji Ozawa. In 1989, he won the Besançon Conducting Competition. In 1995, he won the 1st Leonard Bernstein Jerusalem International Conducting Competition. He has performed with many of Europe's leading orchestras, including the Orchester de Paris, the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, the WDR Symphony Orchestra Cologne, the Bavarian State Opera Orchestra, the Berliner Philharmoniker, and the London Symphony Orchestra. Since 2015, he has been the Music Director of the Tonkünstler Orchestra, which has a history of over 110 years in Austria, and is based in Vienna. In Japan, he is the artistic director of the Hyogo Performing Arts Center and the Chief conductor of the Siena Wind Orchestra. There are many CD releases, and the latest edition is the 17th CD "Brahms: Symphony No. 2/Variations on a theme of Haydn", which conducted the Tonkünstler Orchestra, will be released in August 2021. His publications include “The life of swinging a stick: A conductor engraves time” (PHP Bunko/Shinsho).
