He won the first prize and the audience prize at the 16th Edvard Grieg International Piano Competition, which brought him into the global limelight. He also won seven other international competitions, including the 26th Rome International Piano Competition. Since then, he has performed with the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra three times under the baton of Kenichiro Kobayashi and Tadaaki Otaka, and with the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, as well as giving recitals at the Vienna Philharmonic and the Elbphilharmonie. He has been active in many fields, based in Japan and Vienna. He appeared as the main pianist for Amemiya Shuhei on NHK General TV's "Piano no Mori," which was very well received. He has also appeared on many other media programs, including TV shows such as "Untitled Concert" and "La La La♪ Classic."
