Born in Akita Prefecture in 1972, he joined TBS as an announcer in 1995 and left the company to go freelance in 2022. He currently narrates a number of popular programs, and his podcast "OVER THE SUN" with Jane Su is also gaining popularity. His books include "I Quit for Now: A Diary of Independence at 50" (Daiwa Shobo), "Reading Class" (Kanzen), and "The Recommendation of a Listening Position" (Tokuma Shoten). In June 2025, he played the lead role for the first time as a stage actor in "Phaedra - In the Flames" (Japan premiere), directed by his close friend Kenta Fukasaku. His "Yomibasho Project," which he organizes, held its sixth reading event at Mitsukoshi Theater on December 13th and 14th, 2025.
