He has served Music Director of the Jerusalem Symphony Orchestra (Israel), Chief Conductor of the Kristiansand Symphony Orchestra (Norway), Principal Guest Conductor of the Turku Philharmonic Orchestra (Finland), and Chief Artistic Partner of the Royal Northern Sinfonia (UK). He is active in the fields of conducting, violin, viola, chamber music and education, and has been professor of violin at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna since 1999.
He has conducted the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Israel Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Symphony Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra, Konzerthaus Berlin, etc. As a violinist, he has performed with world-famous conductors and orchestras such as the Oslo Philharmonic Orchestra under Makela, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Orchestra under Mehta, the St. Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra under Temirkanov, the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra under Orozco-Estrada, the Pittsburgh Symphony Orchestra under Honeck, and the Munich Philharmonic Orchestra.
He has released numerous CDs from Sony Classical, Warner Classics, and Deutsche Grammophon. He is a UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador. Born in Lithuania in 1974.
