A pianist born in Naruto, Tokushima Prefecture in 1989, raised in Nagoya, and currently living in Vienna.
After majoring in piano at the Department of Instrumental Music, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, he entered the Department of Piano at the University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he unanimously graduated with honors from the Master's program in piano. He also completed the Postgraduate Course. While focusing on orthodox, good old classical music, he is active as a new type of pianist who also distributes videos based on the concept of "bringing classical music closer to people."
In 2016, he won second place in the piano category at the George Enescu International Competition (Bucharest, Romania). This is the first time a Japanese pianist has won a prize at this prestigious competition, which has been held since 1958 and has boasted world-renowned pianists such as Radu Lupu and Elisabeth Leonskaja as winners.
He has performed with the George Enescu Philharmonic, Tokyo Metropolitan Symphony Orchestra, Nagoya Philharmonic Orchestra, Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra, Kanagawa Philharmonic Orchestra, Osaka Symphony Orchestra, Kansai Philharmonic Orchestra, Nodame Festival Orchestra, etc. He served as the general host of the NHK Classic Fes. 2023 "Tantan Ensemble" and performed with members of the NHK Symphony Orchestra ensemble.
In addition to performing both domestically and internationally, he has also opened a YouTube channel under the name "TAKU-oto TV Takuon." The total number of views has exceeded 100 million, and the number of subscribers has exceeded 320,000, and continues to grow.
Debuting in 2022 with her first album "TANZ," her second album "Szene" in 2023 dominated the classical music category on Oricon, Amazon, Rakuten, etc., and also ranked third in the Oricon general category, which includes pop music and anime songs, making it an unusual choice for a classical music CD.
The 2023 CD release commemorative national tour "Szene" performance at the Opera City Concert Hall in Tokyo and the additional performance at Suntory Hall Main Hall both sold out within three minutes of going on sale.
In 2024, they released their third album, "Diversity."
He is one of the most talked-about pianists today, with his album release nationwide tour "Diversity" attracting a total audience of 10,000 people.
He has also served as a personality on Maison de Music's "Takuma-shiki Radio" on MBS Radio, and currently writes a column titled "Takuon Essay" in Yamaha's "Monthly Piano." He won the Grand Prize in the Pianist category at the "Musical Instrument Store Awards 2023" and the Encouragement Award at the 15th Tokushima Arts and Culture Awards.
In June 2025, he performed at a sold-out Berlin Philharmonic Hall as a Japanese soloist, achieving great success and catapulting him into the global spotlight.
He will also be performing with an overseas orchestra for the first time on a nationwide tour with the Berlin Symphony Orchestra.
On June 19th, his first book, "This is an unconventional way to enjoy music! Takuon's guide to classic music," was released.
March 13, 2025: The "TAKU-Oto TV Takuon" YouTube channel celebrates its 5th anniversary.
Starting in August, the "Takuma Ishii Piano Recital Tour 2025 Takuon 5th Anniversary" will be held at 10 performances in 9 locations across the country.
