Alma Deutscher, born in the UK in 2005, is a young prodigy who has received international acclaim as a composer, conductor, violinist, and pianist. She began playing the piano at age two and the violin at age three, and composed her first piano sonata at age six. She completed her violin concerto at age nine, which she premiered as a soloist.
At the age of 11, her opera Cinderella premiered in Vienna, creating a sensation and being performed again throughout Europe and the United States. At the age of 12, she composed and premiered a piano concerto, and at the age of 14, she made her Carnegie Hall debut. This performance consisted entirely of her own works, and she was the soloist on both violin and piano, and also provided narration. The venue was sold out, and she received a standing ovation.
She has performed at some of Europe's most prestigious venues, including the Vienna Philharmonic, the Konzerthaus, the Salzburg Festival, and the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg.She has released an album on Sony Classical, and her music has been described as "reminiscent of Schubert, Mozart, and Chopin."
In 2019, he was awarded the European Culture Award by the Vienna State Opera. He was also selected as one of the "12 Heroes of the Future" by the influential German magazine Stern. He has also been featured on CBS's 60 Minutes and in a Netflix documentary, attracting worldwide attention.
In 2022, he began collaborating with the Strauss-Kapelle Wien. In a special concert series in Vienna, he conducted, performed, and composed a Viennese-style program centered on his own compositions. In the same year, he made his debut as a conductor in North America and the United States.
Currently, with the cooperation of the Tarisio Foundation, the orchestra is using the famous Buchel Stradivarius, made in 1683.
