Three students have been selected as the second class of the "New Japan Philharmonic Academy," New Japan Philharmonic established in 2025 with the aim of nurturing the next generation of musicians.
For the selection of the second cohort, orchestra members participated as judges. Based on the judging results, the orchestra members exchanged opinions across section boundaries on what kind of experience each performer should gain and how they should grow in the future, demonstrating their high level of interest and enthusiasm for welcoming the next generation of musicians.
Going forward, we will carefully confirm what each successful applicant wants to learn at the academy and what kind of musician they aspire to be. We will then share this information between the orchestra members and the administrative office, and provide training that is tailored to each individual's goals and growth.
New Japan Philharmonic Academy aims to equip students with not only performance skills but also the comprehensive abilities necessary to stand on stage as professional musicians, through practical experience in an orchestra. For the second cohort of students, members of New Japan Philharmonic will work alongside them in performance settings, helping them develop their individual potential.
About New Japan Philharmonic Academy
New Japan Philharmonic Academy was established in 2025 with the aim of nurturing the next generation of musicians. In addition to improving performance techniques, it offers an on-the-job training (OJT) type program that cultivates the overall skills necessary for a musician through actual stage experience in an orchestra. Second term
Violinist: Amane Mouri
Originally from Fukuoka Prefecture.
She began playing the violin at the age of three.
Second place at the 75th All Japan Student Music Competition, Kitakyushu Tournament. Grand Prize and Gold Prize at the 17th Kyushu Music Competition. Third place at the 14th Design K Music Competition.
Selected for the Fukuoka Emerging Musicians Development Project, she performed with the Kyushu Symphony Orchestra.
She was selected through an on-campus audition to perform in the 52nd Chamber Music Concert (Va.).
To date, I have studied under Katsumi Sadakuni, Keika Yonekura, Seiji Kageyama, and Yuko Kageyama, and currently I am studying under Asako Urushihara and Taro Uemura.
I am currently a fourth-year student at the Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts.
Oboe player: Seiji Tominaga
He is from Tokyo.
He began playing the oboe at the age of 12.
After graduating from Kokugakuin University Kugayama High School, he is currently enrolled in the Department of Instrumental Music at Tokyo University of the Arts.
Seiji Ozawa Matsumoto Festival 'Chamber Music Study Group' and 'Music Concert for Children,' Seiji Ozawa Music School Opera Project XXI, Chofu International Music Festival, and others.
Took lessons with Nick Deutsch at the Internationalen Chursächsischen Meisterkurse Bad Elster (Germany, 2026) and performed in the final concert with selected members.
He has studied oboe under Masato Satake, Mizuho Yoshii, Hitoshi Wakui, Akiko Ikeda, and Kazuhiro Miyamura. He has studied Baroque oboe under Masamitsu Sannomiya.
Percussionist: Aoi Noguchi
Originally from Ashikaga City, Tochigi Prefecture.
She began playing percussion instruments at the age of 12. After attending Ashikaga University Affiliated High School, she is currently a third-year student majoring in orchestral and percussion instruments at Toho College of Music.
She will perform with the Chofu International Music Festival Orchestra in 2025. She has studied percussion with Reiko Kono, Tadayuki Hisaichi, Kyoko Itabashi, and A. Mittermeyer.
