In 2026, Japan and the Philippines will celebrate the 70th anniversary of the normalization of diplomatic relations.
To mark this historic milestone, we have decided to hold a commemorative concert in Manila, Philippines, to celebrate the ties between our two countries.
One goal is to act as a bridge through music.
Having overcome past hardships and walked together for 70 years, we want to let the power of music, which transcends language barriers and embraces history, resonate with a melody of hope for the next 100 years. As neighbors in Asia, we will pour our utmost respect into our music.
Another point is the further evolution of New Japan Philharmonic.
For an orchestra, overseas performances are not merely tours. They are away from familiar halls, standing before audiences with different languages and cultures—an unfamiliar environment. In order to make their sound resonate in such a setting, each member must concentrate to the absolute limit and synchronize their breathing with one another.
The moment we perform facing a Filipino audience, feeling their pulse as we play—we believe that the "chemical reaction" born from this encounter with a different culture will bring a new sensibility to the orchestra and evolve our sound into something deeper and richer.
This project is a challenge for the future, created together with everyone who supports our growth. However, transporting instruments and traveling abroad requires significant expenses, and there are obstacles that we cannot overcome on our own.
From Sumida to the Philippines, and beyond to even greater heights. We humbly ask for your warm support as a partner in this journey in New Japan Philharmonic will carve a new chapter in its history.
