New Japan Philharmonic will hold a special concert of the Ninth Symphony for everyone to enjoy on December 18, 2025.
This performance, which was well received last year, was planned as a concert that the whole family could enjoy, with children from the age of four, based on the desire to "provide children with a real musical experience." We received feedback from many customers requesting a "real-life musical event that can be enjoyed with children," and this was realized in response to that request.
The first half of the program will present "The Story of the Ninth Symphony," a fun story told through illustrations and narration, designed to be accessible even for those unfamiliar with classical music. Projecting original illustrations by animation artist and illustrator Iyori Saki onto the screen, the program will trace the background to how Beethoven came to compose his 9th Symphony (the "Ninth"). The story, written by conductor and columnist Okada Tomohiro, introduces the highlights of the "Ninth" in an easy-to-understand manner without relying on technical terminology.
In the second half of the concert, following a break, Music Director Yutaka Sado will conduct a powerful rendition of the "Ninth Symphony" with a full orchestra and chorus. You will be able to fully experience the grandeur of this masterpiece and the realism that can only be experienced at a live performance.
This year, we will also be starting new initiatives with supporting companies and organizations that have endorsed this project.

A message from the United Nations IOM to customers
"December 18th is International Migrants Day, established by the United Nations. I hope that on this day we will remember the message of Symphony No. 9, 'We are brothers, the world is one,' and pay tribute to those who have been forced to move their lives and homes for various reasons, including war, climate change, and poverty, as well as to migrants who are contributing to new societies around the world."
