The 2022/2023 season marks the 50th anniversary of the formation of the New Japan Philharmonic. Some of you may say that you've been listening to it since then. This concert reproduces the program of the "formation special concert" 50 years ago. The brilliant sound of Berlioz's overture "Roman Carnival" lingers in my ears, Ravel's masterpiece "Ma Mère Roi" surprises me with a sense of color, including solos for various instruments, and Beethoven's Symphony No. 3 "Eroica" scales. It would have shown Seiji Ozawa 's ability and the enthusiasm of the orchestra (unfortunately, I didn't listen to it). The environment surrounding classical music has changed significantly, but the motivation of conductors and orchestra members to work on music has not changed. Studied under Bernstein and Ozawa at Tanglewood, Stenz, who is in high demand in the opera world, is enthusiastically supported by the members of the orchestra. The current members of the New Japan Philharmonic also respond to the spirit of Stenz, who willingly undertook the reproduction program.
