Born in Tokyo. At the age of 16, he studied abroad alone at the Trossingen Municipal Conservatory (Germany). Studied under Bernert Ebert at the piano department of the Kunitachi College of Music, Hannover. In 1973 and 1974, he won the Klingenthal International Accordion Competition (Germany) in the youth section, and started performing actively mainly in Germany. Debuted in Japan in 1977 with the Sapporo Symphony Orchestra conducted by Hiroyuki Iwaki. Appeared in the opening series of Suntory Hall in 1987 and Casals Hall in 1988. He has conducted the NHK Symphony Orchestra, the Saito Kinen Orchestra, the Orchester de la Suisse Romande, the Deutsche Symphonie-Orchester Berlin, and the Tonkünstler Orchestra under the direction of Seiji Ozawa, Yutaka Sado, Charles Dutoit, and Mario Venzago. , and many co-stars with prestigious orchestras such as the Tokyo Philharmonic Orchestra.

Since 1988, he has been holding a self-produced recital "Miki Mie Accordion Works", where leading contemporary composers such as Yuji Takahashi, Takashi Yoshimatsu, and Toshio Hosokawa have composed many new songs for Miki.

He has released more than 26 CDs in Japan and overseas, including "Accordion Bach" (Naxos Japan), "French Baroque Collection", "Scarlatti Sonata Collection", and "Grieg: Lyrical Pieces" (BIS/King International). "JS Bach: From the Well-Tempered Clavier" (BIS/King International), released in 2017, won the most prestigious European award, OPUS KLASSIK.

In 1990, he was the first accordionist to receive the Westphalia Government Art Encouragement Award (Germany). In 2014, she won the Japan Music Pen Club Music Award (chamber music and chorus category). Currently Vice President of the Folkwang University of the Arts (Germany) and Professor Emeritus of the Xinjiang College of Music (China). With a wide repertoire ranging from baroque to contemporary music, he has established a solid position as a world leader in classical accordion.
