General Music Director of the Hiroshima Symphony Orchestra (from April 2017), Music Director of the Hiroshima Wind Orchestra (from January 2011).
Born in Kagoshima. In 2000, he won the Tokyo International Music Competition <Conducting> and won the Hideo Saito Award.
While being regularly invited by major orchestras in Japan, he is also active on the international stage such as the Rome Santa Cecilia National Academy Orchestra, the Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, the Stuttgart Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Silicon Valley Symphony Orchestra, and the Barcelona Symphony Orchestra.
He has served as the first regular conductor and principal guest conductor of the Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, permanent guest conductor of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra, and permanent principal guest conductor of the Kyoto Symphony Orchestra.
As a professor of conducting at the Faculty of Music, Kyoto City University of Arts, a specially appointed professor at the Wind Orchestra Academy of Tokyo College of Music, and a part-time lecturer at the Department of Conducting, Faculty of Music, Tokyo University of the Arts, he also teaches younger generations.
Music advisor for the taiko performing arts group Kodo.
