Thank you for your continued support of New Japan Philharmonic.

We have very sad news.

Ayumu Kuwata, the Chief cellist of our orchestra, passed away yesterday at 12:16 on April 5th.

I was 57 years old.

He has appeared as a guest Chief cellist for many years, and has been appointed as New Japan Philharmonic Chief cellist since November 2020. On January 13th and 14th, 2023, the 12th Sumida Classical Music Concert will be his last performance with New Japan Philharmonic Appeared.

Mr. Kuwata was a very important person for our orchestra.

氏の音楽性や演奏技術は多くの人々、団員から愛されておりました。

Mr. Kuwata's passing is a very big loss for us.

I will never forget the music and feelings I had with Mr. Kuwata, and I will continue to perform with all my heart.

We pray for the souls from the bottom of my heart.
