Performed Tchaikovsky's Violin Concerto with Moon Bo-ha (Top/Second Place Winner in the Violin Section of the 9th Sendai International Music Competition)

Scheduled to be held at Sumida Triphony Hall on Sunday, November 16, 2025 "SMBC presents 'New Wind' Special Concert ~Charity Concert~" I will be performing with Moon Bo-ha (born 2006 in Korea), who recently won second place in the violin category at the 9th Sendai International Music Competition. The piece will be Tchaikovsky's famous Violin Concerto.

As previously announced, this rare concert will feature Suzuki Manami (winner of the 12th Hamamatsu International Piano Competition), as well as other talented soloists who will lead the classical music world in the next generation. Look forward to hearing two masterpieces performed in one day.

Born in Singapore, he studied composition with Leung Yun Ping, conducting with Leonid Korchmar at the St. Petersburg Conservatory and Ham Shinnik at Yale University, as well as Baroque music and harpsichord at the Fiesole Conservatory in Italy.

He won first place at the Besançon International Conducting Competition in 2007, where he also received the Audience Prize and Orchestra Prize. He also won top prize at the Antonio Pedrotti International Conducting Competition in 2006 and the Arthur Toscanini International Conducting Competition in 2008. He served as Music Director of the Orchestre de Bretagne from 2012 to 2015, and has been Music Director and Chief conductor of the Sichuan Symphony Orchestra since 2016.

In recent years, he has guest-conducted with the London Philharmonic and Concertos Lamoureux, toured the Thuringian Philharmonic in Germany and Belgium, and conducted the National Grand Theatre Orchestra in a performance commemorating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China.

He has been invited by Valery Gergiev to regularly guest conductor the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, and has conducted the London Philharmonic, Royal Liverpool Philharmonia Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, Philharmonia de Radio France, Konzerthausorchester Berlin, Radio Symphony Orchestra Berlin, Munich Radio Orchestra, Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, and Giuseppe Verdi Symphony Orchestra of Milan, among others. In Japan, he has guest conductored with the NHK Symphony Orchestra, Yomiuri Nippon Symphony Orchestra, Japan Philharmonic Orchestra, New Japan Philharmonic, and Kyushu Symphony Orchestra. His operatic works include Don Giovanni and Rigoletto at the Mariinsky Theatre, Carmen at the Estonian National Opera, The Magic Flute and The Diary of Nijinsky at the Opéra National de Bordeaux, The Flying Dutchman at the Lyric Opera of Singapore, and Cosi fan tutte at the Opéra de Toulon.

In recent years, he has released many recordings with Naxos, was nominated for a Grammy Award in 2016, and is attracting attention as one of the most active conductors in Asia. In 2015, he was awarded the Chevalier of the Order of Arts and Letters by the French government.

Violin: Moon Boha

9th Sendai International Music Competition, violin section, highest ranking (2nd place)

Born in South Korea in 2006. She will study under Ida Kavafian at the Curtis Institute of Music from 2023. She has previously studied under Pierre Amoyal (Mozarteum University Pre-College), Josef Špaček (Prague), Kim Nam-yun (Korea Arts Institute for Gifted Students), and Anat Malkin Armani (Manhattan School of Music Pre-College).

She has won first prize in many Korean and international competitions, including the Music Spring and Autumn Festival (2015), Crescendo (2016), Singapore Violin Festival (2019), and Go Chang (2022). She also won second prize at the 2020 Leonid Kogan Competition, fifth place in the Junior Division of the 2021 Yehudi Menuhin International Violin Competition, and second prize at the 2022 Zhuhai Mozart Competition for Young Musicians.

In 2021, she was selected as a SonusArts “Young Soloist” and will perform a solo recital in Switzerland. In 2023, she was selected as “Young Artist of the Year” at the German National Festival and performed with members of the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra.

She has attended master classes by many famous violinists, including Mihaela Martin, Clyde Sachts, Noah Bendix-Balgley, Philip Draganov, Annie Schnark, Martin Biber, and Koichiro Harada.

In addition to serving as concertmaster of the Ongbuk Elementary School Orchestra and the Yewon School Orchestra, he is also actively involved in orchestral activities, including participating in the Czech Philharmonic Youth Orchestra from 2022 to 2023.

Born in Osaka Prefecture in 2002. Started playing piano at the age of 4. Graduated from the music department of Osaka Prefectural Yuhigaoka High School and Tokyo College of Music, majoring in instrumental music (piano performer course) with Chief honors. Currently studying at Tokyo College of Music, Graduate School, as a special scholarship student. 1st place in the Huppel division of the 27th Huppel Tosu Piano Competition. 4th place in the piano division of the 32nd Takarazuka Vega Music Competition. Selected for the 36th C-class and won the 42nd F-class Best 17 Award at the Pitina Piano Competition National Tournament. 1st place in the junior high school division of the piano division of the 17th "Great Wall Cup" International Music Competition. Appears in the "Tokyo College of Music Piano Concert - Piano Performer Course Outstanding Achievers" every year since 2020. Participates in the Hamamatsu International Piano Academy 2023 and 2024, and the 45th Kirishima International Music Festival in 2024.
